Attendance, Absence and Punctuality

Your child is expected to attend school every day unless they are ill or have a medical appointment. If your child is absent from school, please let us know the reason by either phoning the school, writing a note or telling your child’s teacher. If you do not let us know, you may be visited by our Education Welfare Officer. We may also ask her to visit you if you give unsatisfactory reasons for absence, if your child is absent a great deal, or if your child is persistently late.

Holidays during the school term

You will be required to obtain permission from the headteacher if you want to take your child out of school during term time.

You can only do this if you make an application to the headteacher in advance and there are exceptional circumstances for the holiday. The headteacher will make the decision in how many days your child can be away from school if leave is granted.

You can be fined for taking your child on holiday during term time without the school's permission.
