PE and Sport Premium for Primary Schools
Football
Our boy’s football team had a fantastic tournament on the 20th April. Competing against 20 other schools they placed 3rd after winning two penalty shootouts. Congratulations boys!
Cross Country
This term saw the children in Central Park take part in a cross country house competition. The children ran a long distance, competing for house points. It was cold and muddy but the children were proud of their achievements.
Year 3 and 4 dodgeball
On 26th March our year 3 and 4 dodgeball team took part in a Newham schools competition. The team played really well against some tough competition and managed to reach the quarter finals – a great result!
London Lions
On January 30th year 5 and 6 children were able to go and watch the London Lions play basketball at the Copper Box arena in Stratford. As well as seeing the London Lions win a great match, the children also got to meet the players in a coaching session before the game.
On 28th January our year 3 and 4 handball team took part in a Newham schools competition. Handball is a sport that the children have not played very much of and so the team did exceptionally well against some very experienced competition! They played 6 matches altogether.
They lost 2, drew 2 and won 2 matches which is a great result!
Central Park Sports Leaders
At Central Park we have a group of year 5 and 6 children who have been selected as sports leaders. It is the sports leaders' responsibility to organise and run sporting activities at lunchtimes. They ensure that they teach younger children different skills and techniques involved in different sports such as shooting in basketball and passing in football.
Our boys cricket team were also recognised for their great sportsmanship and were awarded the Percy Dunlop sportsmanship award!
Last season Central Park's girls and boys cricket teams were very succesful. The girls team won the plate in the Newham Schools competiton.
The boys were runners up and went on to represent Newham in the London Youth Games in Regents park where they went on to play very well against some tough competition.
